Trying to Become a Volunteer and Losing Things in the Mail

AHHHHHHHHHHH

Charlotte's Freedom Farm is looking for volunteers and I filled out an application!! o(≧∇≦o)

I hope they like my application! I want to go there and work in the dirt and see the animals!


I've had A LOT of stuff come in the mail btw. But I am not going to take pics yet because some of it is real wrinkly and in need of a wash (mum's washer died RIP). That's not all... a package is lost in the mail right now, it seems. Canada Post doesn't have any information about the package at all and on the site from the country that it's shipped from it has never updated since the seller dropped it off. ;-;

This will be the second package that has become lost in the mail since May. ARGH

I hope that it isn't really lost and they've just fumbled scanning it (it's happened before). In the package is the Delft Lotta JSK in blue short version and I even had found and bought the matching head bow for it.

Actually, I don't have the matching socks or that ribbon on the neck. But still. 

Picnic

We had a picnic meetup on Saturday. The weather was over 30 Celsius but by the water in the shade we were totally fine. Surprisingly, some people didn't show up so it really was just my direct group of friends. Which was fine! I think my sister was a bit disappointed though.

The meet was supposed to be strawberry and sweets themed so I wore Sheep Garden with my new Strawberry Parlour hat WHICH DOES NOT FIT ME >:(

She borrowed one of Brittany's wigs. Brittany and I were together at the drug store when she found that wig. It is by Gothic Lolita/Rockstar Wigs. I was surprised to see it there and on sale.

My brother also came with us! Him and his friends are into men's fashion. They have a lot of really nice and unique pieces of clothing. He complimented Raymond on his coordinate. Maybe one day my brother could get into Aristocrat. He is really thin (despite his ability to eat inhuman amounts of sugar) and only a bit taller than myself so he would definitely fit into brand clothing.

Brittany wore her bunnies and tea cups JSK and cute butterfly clips in her hair. Sadly, I didn't get any good shots of her outfit. 

All our snacks! I brought iced tea. The flavour was Sunny C from David's Tea. I brought orange pekoe in a thermos and some soy milk to go along with it. For snacks I brought golden oreos, tea biscuits, dried fruits, chocolate, peanut butter and the jam that my husband made. I highly suggest golden oreos/tea biscuits paired with strawberry/raspberry jam. It is a very good combination and everyone else thought so too. >:)

I brought 70% and 90% chocolate. We all tried both to compare. The 90% didn't even taste much like anything, it was just powdery. 70% was the best.

Raymond brought a whole bunch of snacks from Japan, Brittany brought fruit salad and dates (which were far superior to mine), cookies and trail mix, my siblings brought strawberries and candies. One of the candies were like gum drops with fruit and mint flavour combined together. It was unexpected! I didn't read the package label first ><;

Overall, we had a good time looking fancy and snacking. I was too tired to go through with finding someone to take our group's photo and then posing and everything so these snap shots will have to do. Brittany and I are currently discussing planning a meet up ourselves.

I recently watched the original Mary Poppins film and was inspired by the hats that Jane has in the movie.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate Jane's hats?

I'm wondering why the majority of straw hats in lolita fashion are similar to boater hats and not rounded like the hat with the blue ribbon in the bottom right corner of the image above?

I don't really like mini hats. I used to like them a lot when I was younger. What happened?

Anyway, Jane's hats give me inspo to get myself some more hats. Ones that I am currently in love with:

In other news, Amino now has ads. I don't know if I'm going to be using it anymore... Probably, I need some time to get over the disappointment. I hardly ever use Tumblr now because of the ads though, so maybe I wont get over it. :(
If there was an option to pay some amount to have no ads, I would consider it. (This goes for Amino and Tumblr)

Blue + Pink and Blue + White

Today, Raymond and I went to a metaphysical store to buy things for the solstice on Friday. I am going to go mulberry picking, have a picnic and then have a bonfire (if the weather is okay) on Friday to celebrate. I bought way too much incense but it was on SALE. I spent 6 more dollars than originally planed but now I have like 60 something incense sticks huhu~ At this store they have the incense sitting in jars so you can just reuse the same baggie to hold the incense in.

I tried something new with my coordinate. I'm really happy with the result. I kept everything on the floor because I felt it went with the aesthetic I'm going for (which is: looking terrible).

Also look at this selfie. I don't post selfies with my lolita coordinates ever because they feel so unrelated and also who wants to look at my face. But look at it anyway.

Also also, I am crocheting a new scarf for the Knit-Wits group. I went with Brittany for the first time in years! ;o; Apparently, I'd already finished the scarf that I was working on before so I started this. I'm going to do blue and white stripes. I don't know if I have enough blue to finish the current line though... the suspense!

Vegfest and Finally Finding a Sought After Item

We went to Vegfest on Sunday. My friend and I wore lolita. I decided on country lolita because I was feeling very summery.

I talked about this photo on my tumblr (which I post to infrequently). I find myself wearing these boots a lot, but they're not lolita. They're comfortable, they go okay with most coordinates that feature brown. I'm interested in anything to make lolita more wearable for me. I've thought about buying a pair of pink converse. THE TREACHERY! The store at the mall carries pink converse but for some reason they are the ONLY pastel converse they have that is made with leather.

At Vegfest we tried free samples, tried a vegan pepperette, got vegan donuts, petted some dogs and browsed art. We also bought a few groceries. I finally got to try the beyond meat sausage. Holy crap, it's so much like the real thing! ~spooky~

Also! I FINALLY found a strawberry parlour hat!! How long did I wait to find it...? The last listing for the hat on Lacemarket was in April 2018! So I've been waiting over a year. Excited I've finally found it.

I was really very busy the last month. I got married, I graduated from university and I went on my honeymoon to Las Vegas. I will have more free time now. 

What to Do after University?

 Can I please just be a volunteer here?

I know it's probably better to just donate money. They already have 15 volunteers. A good birthday gift to me would be to donate on my behalf. BTW I used snipping tool to get these images because they were on Instagram (is this bad to do? probably)

Also there is a Zero Waste Academy in Kamikatsu Japan! Apparently the town is a zero waste town. They're really strict about waste; they have a strict recycling policy. I remember seeing a video about a town where they wash dishes in this water where fish live, the fish eat the food waste and then the water from the fish goes into the rice paddies and it fertilizes the soil. I can't remember where it was though!

Also, someone a few streets away from me has a natural garden, they have a sign up: In the Zone. It's some kind of association, I do not know if it is still active though. If I ever own any land, I want to naturalize it.

I have received some packages in the mail but I'm waiting until after exams to open them huhu. I'll probably record it because I like rewatching myself opening things. I need to study.
