In 2020, I wanted to try and read at least one book a month again. I managed to do this in 2018 even with that year being a very chaotic year. In 2019 I didn't read so many books and it was mostly because I lacked a goal to motivate me to read more frequently.

I didn't necessarily achieve the goal of a book a month, there were times I struggled over more than a month to read a book (The Kingdom of Back, The Fall of Gondolin) and then there were other books I read in a day (The Obelisk Gate). In the end I read thirteen books though! So I consider the goal accomplished.

Here are the books I read in 2020:
  1. Immortal Coil by Jeffrey Lang
  2. The Fall of Gondolin by J. R. R. Tolkien
  3. Doorways in the Sand by Roger Zelazny
  4. The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin
  5. The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin
  6. I, Robot by Isaac Asimov
  7. The Obelisk Gate by N. K. Jemisin
  8. The Stone Sky by N. K. Jemisin
  9. The Twilight Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko
  10. The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu
  11. The Dark Forest by Liu Cixin
  12. Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows
  13. Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston
I decided to continue to make reading books a regular practice into 2019. However, I didn't stay as stringent to reading 12 books (i.e. 1 book a month).

Here are the books I read in 2019:
  1. Metamorphosis by Jean Lorrah
  2. Kamouraska by Anne Hébert
  3. I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
  4. The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
  5. The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien
  6. The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien
I know not so many books in 2019 but considering that each LOTR book could be considered two books, that puts me at 9 books.

In 2018 I had the goal of reading 12 books.

Here are the books I read in 2018:
  1. Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams
  2. Grendel by John Gardner
  3. Stardust by Neil Gaiman
  4. Fifteen Dogs by André Alexis
  5. Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami
  6. Fifth Business by Robertson Davies
  7. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
  8. Dune by Frank Herbert
  9. Dayworld by Philip José Farmer
  10. Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie
  11. The Dalai Lama's Cat and the Art of Purring by David Michie
  12. The Good Life: A Guide to Buddhism for the Westerner by Gerald Roscoe
Books I read between 2015 and 2018:

  • Neuromancer
  • House of Leaves
  • Flatland
  • Good Omens
