Bunny Pocket OP

A goal I had a few months ago was to not buy any more lolita for quite some time. I've stuck to this goal!
Angelic Pretty announced they were re-releasing the Bunny Pocket OP, though. This was worth breaking from my embargo on lolita fashion.

The bunny pocket OP in the sax colourway. It has bunny face shaped pockets on the skirt, corset lacing on the bodice and a scalloped double hem.

So then, I spent a lot of time thinking about which colourway to ask my shopping service to purchase. All the colourways are wonderful, I'd be happy with any. I'm always partial to blue, but the first time I saw this dress was in Shelby Cloud's video and hers was pink. So pink has a special meaning for me. The red x white or black x white combo also were super cute. After much deliberation, I put in an order with a shopping service listing the order of my colour preferences, in case my number one choice was unavailable:
#1. Sax
#2. Pink
#3. Black
#4. Red

The Dot Michelle Katyusha matched the dress really well. I requested they purchase it in the same colourway as whichever dress they managed to get.

Sadly, the dress sold out instantly. At 11:00 PM EST I refreshed the page and it was sold out. I never even saw the dress in stock! Only the listing preview page and then instantly sold out! Totally bonkers.

Hopefully, it will also be sold at Angelic Pretty USA, but it wasn't even listed on Angelic Pretty Paris' webstore and I think Paris usually lists at the same time as the Japan store.

It's always so hard to gauge what level of interest a dress is going to have, especially now that I don't use Instagram very frequently.

...

To think I spent all this time trying to choose a colour and also whether or not to try for the Japan store or to try and wait for the USA store. All that worry for nothing! I can't help but laugh a little.

I am back from my many adventures!

I've been sick for the past week. I was supposed to go to Trotcon and even had a Fluttershy inspired egl coordinate planned out. :( Actually, I didn't get very sick. It was like a mild cold. But I did feel very tired.
It was really nice to just spend an entire week at home feeling obligated to do nothing. :D

I managed to get some things done. For example, a button had popped off my Cherry Cat jumperskirt from Innocent World. The button seems to have been sucked into the void of nothingness because it has entirely disappeared. Months of searching have yielded no results. I sewed on a clear button as a replacement. The buttons are mismatched now though. Maybe now that I've gone through the effort to replace it, the missing button will return.

Back view of the Cherry Cat jumperskirt. The back has shirring. The detachable straps are held with a single button. The new button is not very noticeable because it is clear and colourless. The original button is a similar colour to the dress fabric.
The results. Not too noticeable hopefully?

Cherry Cat is one of my favourite dresses. The cats are sort of wonky looking but it reminds me of the wallpaper border of my childhood bedroom. The dress is also very simple. The ease of wear that comes with such simplicity combined with the nostalgia makes it a go-to.

A close-up of the border print of the dress shows a white long haired kitten stalking a tiny mouse that is carrying a cherry.
Mouse (soon to be a victim?) carries a cherry away.

On the topic of mending, I repaired the burn holes near the cuffs of this sweater. This sweater was left downstairs in my building's lobby, as things often are. It's sort of a leave and take situation. Quite a bit of my muggle clothing is sourced from here. It's fun to find new clothes for free that are in my size. I guess whomever owned this before must have been a smoker? Thought I don't recall it smelling like smoke.
Before image of the sweater sleeve. There are two burnt hole in the plush fabric.

After image of the sweater sleeve. The mending job looks okay, but you can tell there has been a repair made.
After

Why is there no full view photo of this sweater? Who knows?! This is really just for bookkeeping for myself maybe. Or maybe to prove to myself that no, this blog (as a whole) isn't just about lolita fashion. It's about my life. Something like that.
In that case, here's as close as a worth photo I have of myself "wearing" the sweater. It's wrapped around my waist. This image looks hella flat, but I am actually at the top of a very big rocky hill (or perhaps you could call it a small mountain). It's a very remote location, very cool to go somewhere so remote.
The author stands giving a thumbs up. There is rocky, hilly terrain in the backdrop with a lake in the distance. The author is also wearing a baseball cap with side flaps and a fanny pack. The sweater shown about is tied around their waist. The blue sky takes up half the background and has some wispy clouds.
Me in my iconic field hat. I had to make a few repairs to it this trip. It's ten years old now!

It's been quite a while since I've worn lolita. This spring/summer has been filled with traveling. Although last week was spent in quarantine and could have presented an opportunity to wear lolita, I preferred to wear clothing that I could fall asleep in at any moment. I did indeed sleep a lot.
But the food supply has run low and I feel pretty well now so I visited a grocer. It's quite hot so I went for a super cute look instead of lolita. I have discovered that wearing a wig is as good as wearing a hat to keep the sun off one's head :P
The author is wearing a gingham dress and converse shows with large ribbons for laces. They have on a big pair of glasses and a long wig with bangs.
This dress is from Peiliee Shop

I'm happy with how this fit turned out! I think it's very cute.

Otherwise, I've been playing the Sims 4 a bit and watching both Fargo and My Dress-Up Darling.

Also, I have this bubbling feeling of nostalgia! I don't know why. Maybe it's just because it's summer??

It's June AlreadY!

I've been away and travelling a lot so I haven't had much of a chance to wear lolita.

I did wear lolita a whole lot over the Easter weekend, and I'd meant to post about it but never got a chance.

Part of the problem is that it's not a smooth process to transfer images from my smartphone onto my computer to write these entries.

These Converse shoes are from Poshmark! They will go well with very casual coordinates.

A pair of pastel pink high top converse shoes with large ribbon laces and large grommets to accommodate.

This is what I wore to church today. There was no time for a proper photo. In addition I wore a satin pink baseball hat and an Angelic Pretty purse. I actually had to run to church in order to make it on time. It must have been an interesting sight to any observers. These Converse came in handy!

The author in a lolita coordinate wearing the converse shoes, an Alice in Wonderland Innocent World JSK and a bunny ear bolero from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. They have the hood of the bolero up, the bunny ears are flopping to the site. It is a photo taken in a mirror.

A friend and I were discussing the use of the term lolita. I don't want to use this term anymore. Personally, I don't want to deal with misconceptions. Instead, I'll refer to it as jfashion (when talking to muggles). I think this works, because my style is perhaps not strictly lolita anyway.

Hopefully, there will be other opportunities to wear lolita before the month is over. I'll be attending Trotcon next month. I plan to make a Fluttershy themed coordinate!

Goodbye to my hair, hello to pining over dresses yet again and will I ever stop obsessing over cooking?

March flew by really fast. I was pretty busy the whole time but I can't exactly remember much of what went on. My last post was the only time I wore lolita in March. Surprising!

I didn't get a chance to make the headdress to match Doll's Tea Party yet. I am unsure of when I will have enough free time to do it.

Recently, I decided that I want to be less interested in cooking to have more free time but so far I have failed. T__T

I also cut off all my hair finally. I feel a lot better about my appearance now. This means I had to break out the wigs I've kept stored away for so long in order to wear lolita (in a way that makes me happy with how I look. I am not saying one needs long hair to wear lolita, I am just super critical of myself).

The author stands in front of a mirror in an all ivory coordinate with brown pumps that have a trump suit running down the front strap. They are wearing a long auburn wig with bangs. The dress is a jumperskirt with a tiered skirt. The blouse is long sleeves and is the same colour as the dress. The dress has a small bow on the front of the same fabric.
Here's my trying out a wig for the first time in a few years.

Does it obviously look like a wig? Does it matter when it comes to lolita anyway?  XD
This FINALLY gave me the push to trim the bangs on the other two of my wigs. I think I did a much better job than my attempt with my pink wig years ago. I will probably try to fix the bangs on that pink wig, if possible. Additionally, I hope to get a wig closer to my natural hair colour.

In other news, the most recent Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Release is killing me because I told myself I'd buy no more lolita this year. But... LOOK !!
It is a jumperskirt with a scallop hemline and crocheted lace. There is corset lacing down the front. It is a plaid pattern in blue and yellow. Very spring/summer vibes! It has two pockets on the front of the skirt with crocheted lace trim and ribbon tied in a bow. It also comes with two small ribbon hair clips.

I feel like that crying trollface meme. Or the Spongebob "I don't need it" meme. An almost-the-same dress in a different colourway is currently sitting my closet. I just love the way it looks though!!

Last week, I revisited the idea of potentially selling off some of my wardrobe, but confirmed once again that I love everything I have.

Along the lines of cutting off my hair, I am also working on building muscle in my upper body to help with the dysmorphia. This means I need to eat a lot more protein, which is probably why I've failed to banish thoughts of cooking and recipes from my mind. And to take it one step further in the hypocrisy I might be creating some recipe blog posts. Originally I was putting recipes on a separate page but I have never been totally pleased with that format so I am going to start adding them as regular posts.

Kind of concerned about dresses no longer being able to fit my arms but IG will cross that road when I get there.

Bye for now~

A very special haul

I happened to see the matching KC for Holy Night Story by Angelic Pretty for sale on a Japanese secondhand site and this started a large haul (I also happened to find the matching mini hat as well!!).

I wanted to share a few of the things I bought. Most importantly, I found someone selling the first lolita dress I ever saw. I decided to try it on in a similar fashion to the way I first saw it. No blouse, petticoat or socks or anything.

Innocent World Dot Stripe JSK

This was a surreal moment. I remember the person from those photos writing that the dress skirt was really full. They were right! There's a lot of material there. The dress is not the same colour but I am really happy to have an all ivory dress, I think it's going to make some really cute coordinates.

Innocent World Stripe Pleated Skirt
Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Sucré Transparent Knitting Cardigan

This skirt and cardigan are another two items I ordered. The skirt is kind of odd, which is the reason I bought it. I really love this cardigan. It's a light knit with half sleeves. It's going to be really nice for warmer weather.

Innocent World Tartan Check Frederick Trump JSK
Innocent World Noemi Ribbon Cardigan

Both the jumperskirt and the cardigan here are new. I really really love this dress. It has a lot of velvet details and it's very nice and heavy and it's wonderful. The photo is pretty dark but I am sure I will wear it quite a few times before cold weather leaves us so hopefully I'll get some nice photos to share here.

I've been pretty busy recently. I hope March will be less interesting.

I have a goal for myself to make a headpiece to match my Doll's Tea Party OP. I have the materials already, and a design in mind. Just need to execute it!

Just a Post about Saturday

I made a delicious loaf with dried fruit! I used tapioca starch instead of rice flour and the texture was good! I think I would prefer rice flour though. Or maybe a mix of the two. I am really into making a dessert for the week lately. It's nice to have something extra after dinner. Baking isn't something I've done much of but this has increased my interest.

A photo of a sweet loaf in a loaf pan with sunflower seeds baked into the top.

The author in a dress with an allover print. The dress has two small bows on the skirt and two bows down the front of the bodice. They are wearing platform shoes with a wooden sole. They have their hair in a topknot with a bow and are doing the peace symbol with their hand. The dress falls above their knees.
I also wore lolita this day.  The jumperskirt is Mary's Sweet Sheep from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. It's super short!!! These rocking horse shoes which came with a broken strap :( I don't know how to fix it. I asked my husband to solder it back together for me, he said it might ruin the buckle but... it's totally broken how could it get more ruined? I hope he'll try to fix it.

Oh right, I filmed a video of myself doing my daily makeup routine. For archival purposes, I suppose. It's set to publish at a later date though.

Holy Night Story Jumperskirt GET

Finally! I have Angelic Pretty's Holy Night Story switching jumperskirt in green! A couple of years ago I saw the complete set listed on Lacemarket for less than 200$ and I didn't go for it and I regretted it since. So then I was always looking for the dress and having no luck. It was available in other colourways and only when I took a break from checking secondhand sales everyday over the last summer did it get listed. It was sold by the time I saw the posting.
Over the Christmas holiday I saw someone selling the dress without any of the accessories for way more than I'd originally intended to purchase it. But I thought about it and I was tired of checking for this dress all the time and pining over it so I went ahead and bought it. I'm very pleased! The seller even included a mini hat from another release that matches quite well!
Angelic Pretty Holy Night Story on a dress form with a mini hat shaped like a drum on top. The bodice is made of velvet with military style details. The skirt is made of cotton and has a lace trim and glitter on the print.

Close up of the bodice showing the velvet fabric, a bow made from velvet, lace along the square neckline and gold buttons and gold threading to create the military style look.

A close up of the print showing a rocking horse, drums and a large cake. a candle, a trumpet

The back of the dress. The back of the bodice is simple with a centre zip. The waist ties are also velvet and tied.

Close up of the velvet waist tie in the back of the dress with a bullion fringe.

I really like the velvet fabric on this dress. The waist ribbon ends in a bullion fringe. Combined together with the fabric it reminds me of plush old fashioned curtains.

The green is more blue toned than Angelic Pretty's Classic Fairy Tales.

There is also GLITTER in the print. I took a video to capture it:

I am still thinking about how to coord this dress. I always thought that if I got the Ennui Doll blouse from Angelic Pretty I'd try pairing them together because the blouse has a vibrant pink that could match the print.
It also has some nice navy shades that might be interesting to pull out, but I do not have any navy lolita items.
Something about this print reminds me of an iSpy book. I am not sure why. But it feels nostalgic to look at.

The Current State of the "Spare" Room

I keep referring to it as the "Spare" room. My husband corrects me that it is "My" room. In our previous two apartments,...
